The winning couple will be awarded transportation to and accommodation in Buenos Aires so that they can represent the UK in the IV World Tango Championship (Campeonato Mundial de Baile de Tango), which will take place in Buenos Aires within 17th to 27th August 2006. The Campeonato Mundial is an initiative of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires in conjunction with the Academia National del Tango with the aim to expand tango culture, promote Buenos Aires as a tourist destination and turn the World Tango Championship into a world-known cultural event. The tradition of Tango championships is long established in Buenos Aires with various competitions taking place in the Golden Age of tango in the 40?s and other competitions dated back to the early 20?s century.
