What is Tango ?Tango is more than just a precise posture and a stable step. It was developed in Argentina and Uruguay in the 19th century. Tango is a result of a fusion of European, African and Gauchos music. At the time, people started having tango under their skin. Tango is a way of living. It is a language of the soul. Early Tango was called Tango Criollio or just Tango. There are numerous styles today, such as Argentine tango, ballroom tango (American and International styles), Finnish tango, Chinese tango, and others. The Argentine tango is regarded as the "authentic" tango since it is the closest to that originally danced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tango is danced in the line of dance, usually in the closed posture, chest-to-chest, or cheek-to-cheek. However, Nuevo Tango changes this and allows dancing in the open posture. One thing is eternal: tango is unrepeatable and allows infinite improvisation. Tango consists of a variety of styles such as Tango Canyengue and Tango Orillero. However, these styles are not danced any more - They are just part of the Argentine Tango’s evolution. Nowdays, Argentine Tango consists of: Salon Tango, Tango Milonguero, Nuevo Tango, Show Tango or Tango Fantasia. Argentine Tango dancers usually enjoy two other related dances: Vals (waltz) and Milonga. Tango parties are also called Milonga.
Finally, close your eyes, open your heart, share your passion with your partner and dance Tango. |
